Colour London 2010 Day 2- Evening

Christine Caine
Many of us have grown up being told not to take any risks. But life is risky. The goal of life is not to die safely. Safety is not the goal of Christianity - freedom is. There's a purpose greater than self-satisfaction. Eyes up - look at Him and at the world and make a difference. Colour is about bringing His light to a hurt and broken world. The Church isn't dead - it's just been asleep. The alarm's been sounding and we've been pressing the snooze button. We like staying comfortable, safe, warm, but God is giving us a wake up call. Things have shifted on the earth and we need to wake up to what He's doing. Our heart beat must be His heart beat. That's the only hope the world has.

Don't disqualify yourself from doing what God's called you to do. There's a divine recalibration happening on the earth. God's taking His people back to 'firsts'. He says not to leave your first love. He simplifies it for us: love God, love people. The next reformation will be millions of people actually living that out. There's darkness we're supposed to go to - that's why we are being equipped. That's why the bible says "fear not" so often. Light only works efficiently in the midst of darkness. And we are the light of the world!

Colour London 2010 Day 2 - Morning

Today has been utterly incredible. Bobbie opened the day's proceedings, highlighting the main causes that are the focus of the Sisterhood globally by showing a selection of short film clips. We learned about the work of The A21 Campaign, which is working to rescue and rehabilitate victims of human trafficking. There are 27 million slaves on the earth today - more than any other time in history. We heard about a new initiative being launched via Compassion; a child survival programme through which we can contribute to the care of babies, from pre-natal to three years old.

Watoto's Living Hope programme was highlighted, which aims to restore women's dignity and hope. There are 1500 women on the waiting list to have facial re constructive surgery, having had their faces mutilated. For around £2000 we can contribute a surgery package to help give these women their smile back. The Sisterhood also recognises its responsibility to what is local, and through City Care we are seeking to do simple but effective things to assist and show love to those in our immediate community.

We, as the Church, need to walk in unity. Humans are genetically 99% the same, but we often let the 1% difference divide us. Differences are there to bring strength to the body, not divide it. When a body attacks itself it's debilitating and the criticism and mocking of others leads to baroness. We are called to produce fruit. We won't solve any of the world's problems if we keep our focus on our differences. We are all vital parts of one body, like pieces in a puzzle, all different but all part of something bigger.

We learn three things from Joshua 3: If we're going to go the distance with God we've got to...
1. Act immediately. When the word is clear don't let fear, doubt or procrastination hold you back. No more excuses!
2. Act fearlessly. Even in the face of insummountable odds. When He calls you He also equips you - empowers you to do what you're called to do. Don't be afraid!
3. Acknowledge the presence of God. When God moves on we move on, regardless of what's comfortable.

God is able! Able to surprise, to do the impossible, to go so far beyond anything we could imagine. He can pull off ANYTHING! Don't see the bigness of a problem but see the bigness of God. Eph. 3:20-21
Time: there's a time for us to consider the greatness of God - that time is now! Worship God regardless of what you're facing. Turn: turn your attention to Him and the 'nowness' of His ability. Don't praise circumstances by paying more attention to them than to Him. Truth: He IS able to do it - yesterday, today and forever. We have to personally understand that that is true for us. God's 'ableness' is explosive, dynamite power! It's intrinsic to who He is!
Transcendence: He is able to do way past way past, and beyond beyond! Beyond what we have the language to explain. Pray "do it, or do something better". Thank God for unanswered prayer - He knows better
than we do, He knows our lives better than we do. Totality: Pray boldly. He is about the totality of everything that concerns us. We can pray for the hugest things and the tiniest things. Nothing is too small to pass under His attention.

Colour London 2010 Day 1 - Afternoon

An action packed and inspiring afternoon with the gorgeous Holly Wagner and neuro-science extroadinaire Dr. Robi Sonderegger.

Like a cross-country race, we start full of hope but life isn't pain or risk free. Challenge will come. We need...
1. Determination - to be able to navigate the adventure. We don't know what's ahead and we won't find out unless we persevere now. All things are possible in Him!
2. Courage - we can't let out past or our insecurities disqualify us. Courage to get up and try again - to try something new - to say yes - to say no - to make tough decisions.
We don't know what's ahead but God does and we need to obey Him. Courage and determination can be seen. It comes from the Holy Spirit.
Dr. Robi

Children can die due to a lack of connection / touch / love. From the womb, we form attachments and emotional bonds - to our sensory environment and to people. It's hard-wired into the fabric of our being: we're designed for connection. The brain is the most complex structure in the known universe. Neurons that fire together wire together; different parts of the brain activate together to signal a pleasurable experience. We can form emotional and pleasurable connections with the things we give attention to. We have to be careful where we place our attention.
Neuro-plasticity: the brain as mouldable. It can change itself.
